Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain syndrome of the muscles and fibrous connective tissue structures (joint capsules, ligaments, tendons), which is associated with generalised asthenia, fatigue, anxiety and, often, depression.
It affects approximately 1.5 – 2 million Italians. Of these, over 90% are women.
A detoxifying treatment is certainly of basic importance: hence an alkalinising and anti-inflammatory diet and thermal mud.
A rehabilitation and mobilisation course such as myofascial therapy and hydrokinesitherapy in thermal water should be considered, depending on the patient’s state of suffering.
